Legado

If you're Hispanic or looking for Spanish rock bands, you have to listen to Vetusta Morla. Start with their first studio album Un día en el mundo, you'll love it. Their unique poetic and cryptic lyrics, music, and energy are what made me fall in love with this sextet. Since the first song I heard, my curiosity about them has only grown. Their latest album Figurantes, released on May 31st, 2024, hasn’t had the same impact as their previous work, but that doesn’t make it any less great. It’s fresh, full of energy, especially my favorite song from the album: Cosas que hacer un domingo por la tarde.

They also put on mind-blowing live shows. They have a live album recorded at Madrid's Metropolitano Stadium that will make you want to be part of the experience. Two highlights of the concert are:

  1. Mid-song, the electric power went out, and the crowd kept singing the song. The song was El hombre del saco—such an amazing moment!
  2. The feature of WOS, the Argentine rapper, on the song Consejo de sabios. His freestyle is incredible, what he says, and the ending with Pucho (Vetusta Morla's singer) is spectacular.

Overall, the concert has to be one of the best Spanish shows ever. The crowd, the instrumentation, the energy, the power of the music…

Listen to them—any album—and you'll thank yourself for it.
